My name is Rui Wang. I was born in Xi’an, China, and am a German Patent Attorney, a European Patent Attorney, and a representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). I have been working in the field of intellectual property since 2017.
My technical background is electrical engineering and information technology. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, followed by two master’s degrees from Tongji University in Shanghai and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). I subsequently completed my doctoral studies at the Chair of Materials Handling, Material Flow and Logistics at TUM, where my research focused on the Internet of Things and Logistics 4.0. Two of my research publications received the “Best Paper Award”.
My technical expertise includes software-related inventions, artificial intelligence (AI), mobile communications, Internet of Things (IoT), audio and video technologies, as well as control systems and robotics. In my work, I have handled a wide range of complex patent matters, including standard-related patent applications. I also frequently work at the interface of electrical engineering and information technology with other engineering fields.
My work focuses on the efficient and strategic handling of examination proceedings and the drafting of high-quality patent applications, with the aim of securing a robust and defensible scope of protection.
Since the beginning of my professional career, I have advised a broad range of clients, including large technology companies, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and start-ups.
